[Error: unknown template qotd] The concept of "retro" fashion will finally be taken beyond the twentieth century, and the street scene of the future will look something like a Renaissance faire, for both good and ill. In other words, it won't be so much exact replicas as what people will think looks like period dress, ranging between very approximately the twelfth and the nineteenth century.

A fair number of women will be wearing men's clothing, of course. That said, the d├ęcolletage seen in parts of the seventeenth century might make a return, albeit perhaps not to the point of actually showing nipples; most likely the skirts of said gowns would be somewhat shorter as well, say lower-calf to ankle length.

Kilts for men will become slightly more acceptable in North America, although not to the point of displacing trousers. If the pendulum swings back towards greater formality at social events, many men may adopt Highland formal dress simply because it looks and feels better than the tuxedo.

I'm hoping for the extinction of high heels, cosmetics, and the entire fashion industry, as well as the custom of women shaving their legs and underarms, but that's probably too much to ask for. ;-)

No cosmetics? WOE! I favor the continued presence of boys in eyeliner!

I don't mind if _boys_ wear eyeliner, at least as long as I don't have to. ;-)

I hope you are right. Guys in kilts is always a good thing and there is just something about wearing a long dress that is horribly empowering (despite what some may say.)

I'm glad to hear a woman say that. Personally I like to see women in long dresses, or at least skirts mid-calf length or longer. Not that I mind shorter ones, but there's just something nice about longer skirts.

I'm not very inclined to wear a kilt, myself--I also don't wear shorts in public--but I'd rather wear one than a tuxedo any day.

I'd probably wear one, except for the fact that I don't even wear shorts in public. :-)

I have thought seriously about getting married in one, simply to force certain relations to wear them, as a way of getting revenge for my having had to wear a tuxedo at family weddings. ;-)

But God knows when I'll ever get married, or if it'll be enough of a ceremony for any relatives to show up at. Well, we'll see.

Hmm, that is a thought--I'm having no luck dating on this plane, let alone marrying, so I might as well get married on the astral plane. :-)

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you meet nice girls very soon. What's the problem in the dating thingy, then ? Girls/ladies too light headed for you ? Do they text things like 'OMG ur hot' to you ? XD And does that piss you off biGtime ? XD XD

Astral plane is good. If 'twere not for the mad varieties of Snape-fen, I'd have tried to marry Alan Rickman on the astral plane in his incarnation as Sheriff ... As things are, I should look for some one else ... The biggest problem is, I classify the world into 2 parts - 'my kind of people' and 'other sorts'. Going for the former feels like incest, and the other sort rarely has interesting people XD

Thank you.

I'm not sure what it is, really--it's just that everyone I meet whom I find even vaguely attractive seems to be in a relationship, even if she acts interested in me. I'm cautious, anyhow--the last relationship I was in was five years ago, with somebody who turned out to only be interested in me because she'd put a curse on her previous boyfriend and believed that the curse would rebound on her next relationship. I think I was meant to take the curse-blowback so that she could go on to have a relationship with the bloke she actually wanted to be with. I'm fairly sceptical about her ability to put curses on folk, but her thinking it was true meant that, for all intents and purposes, it was true.

He did do a good job in that role.

I'm much the same, although I don't have the problem of feeling incestuous with my kind. Perhaps they do have that problem, and that's why I can never seem to get involved with anyone? ;-)

:) *Uses Sheriff icon*

My God, that one must have been a complete wacko O_@
Would you want her to be cursed, then ? Granny Weatherwax style ?
Five years is a very long time, isn't it ? I hope a decent, intelligent, kind sort comes along for you :)

OMG ALAN !
Hey, he does a FANTASTIC job in every role :) :) Ooooh Colonel Brandon !!!
And, him doing Snape has turned that character into something irresistible :D

Good. I guess I'm all messed up because of that incest feeling thingy XD
No, 'm sure everyone doesn't feel like that. Actually, people do look for their own types, I think ... But I don't go for relationships, so I shouldn't try to be the oracle, really :)

She was, yes. I'd not particularly want her cursed, as I figure being her is enough of a curse as it is. ;-)

Thank you. It is a long time, although I suppose I've been single longer in the past. Before the insane witch I'd spent about six months dating a very nice girl with some issues, who broke up with me a few months before I met the witch, but before the nice girl I'd been single for about seven years, after breaking up with the girl I dated in high school and college.

I just don't seem to have much luck, for some reason.

Good. I guess I'm all messed up because of that incest feeling thingy XD

I don't reckon you're messed up. And not going for relationships is probably a good thing--I wish I could learn to be that way, but I can't.
