A news story I thought was interesting
Sep. 18th, 2004 01:07 pmJapanese designers are using computer design and inkjet printers to make comparatively inexpensive kimono: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040917/ap_on_hi_te/hightech_kimonos
This is kind of a neat idea; it would be very, very cool if it caught on and Japanese people started wearing kimono, or neokimono, day-to-day again. I wonder if one could apply some of the same principles to "national dress" in other countries.
Cheers,
Andrew
(yes, hoping for the day that someone wearing a great kilt and carrying a broadsword can walk down Main Street in Newtown and not be thought unusual. Not that that someone would be me; I like trousers, and wool next to my skin itches :-)
