I saw this headline on my Yahoo news page just now: "How realistic are Indiana Jones' archaeological adventures?"
We used to joke about what a realistic Indiana Jones-type movie would be like. The hero takes down two meter squares in ten centimeter levels. Every so often, he stops and drinks water.
The highlights of the film:
He talks with tourists, explaining multiple times that he's not looking for dinosaurs.
He finds a potsherd that's not like the other ones that have shown up on the site. It might be from as much as fifty miles away.
He breaks for lunch and gets a few minutes' chat with that cute biologist who's doing the wetlands survey.
