Hmm, I'm using this about a month now, and amn't sure what I think of it. I'm sure I like it better than Micro$oft Word, but I'm not finding it as useful for some things than the old Word Perfect (8.0, or something like that) that I used to use.

1) There doesn't seem to be a way to modify the keyboard to give me the fadas I need. I'm sure the insert menu is fine if all you need's a name or two, but when every third word has an acute it doesn't cut it. Calling up all the small vowels with fadas in Windows Character Map, pasting in and deleting the ones that aren't needed is easier, but not much.

2) The html it produces is much harder to decrapify for posting on LJ and things like that than WordPerfect's html, which I could clean up in notepad in a few minutes using search and replace.

Is anyone else using this software, and know of solutions for any of these problems?

Maybe I need to find the Word Perfect CD and install it, Windows 95 software on Vista or not.

I use OO b/c its free, and I dont like all the bloated crap that comes with MS :) I dont know about the fadas, but if youre using certain names with regularity, try putting them into the autocorrect library. I use it with contractions, so I know supports special characters.

With the HTML, that is one of my gripes, theres no straight, clean setting. But, check under Tools | Options | Load/Save | HTML Compatibility. Theres a setting for Export. Play with that a bit. I use Navigator, and then a couple of regex search and replaces in a simple text editor cleans it up nicely.

Word. I detest MSW, and won't use it, period.

The thing is, it's not names I use them for. I write in Irish about a third of the time--counting in names and quotes in my schoolwork and reviews, probably half of what I write needs diacritical marks.

I'm going to go look for an OO community--I'm sure there's one somewhere, and that I'm not the first to come up against this.

Thanks! I'll try that. It sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.

Is Navigator the browser, or...?
