RIP Robert Lynn Asprin ( 28 June 1946 – 22 May 2008)

I just got the news from a_treitell. Robert Lynn Asprin, author of the hilariously funny MYTH Inc. and Phule's Company novels, which sent up high fantasy and mercenary space opera with great good humour and deep affection, died yesterday at his home in New Orleans. God rest him.

Co-founder of the Great Dark Horde and the Dorsai Irregulars. Filk singer-songwriter. Another legend I never got to meet.

Peace to him. May flights of (TOS) Klingon angels sing him to his rest.

Can't believe I just wrote that subject line.

Anyhow, we have a dog. Her name is Minnie, and her previous human was Viktoriya, the niece of one of the hygenists at my mam's dentist. Viktoriya's just graduated Fordham, and realised that she'd not have a proper amount of time to spend with Minnie.

She's a tiny Jack Russell Terrier--about twelve pounds--and very calm and sweet. She has a Disney-Mouse-shaped spot on her side, whence the name.

Pictures will be up soon, I think. She makes very funny howling noises when stimulated by certain high pitched sounds--I'll see if I can't get a recording at some point, and if I can I think I'll put that up as well.
