I'm off to the Catskills Irish Arts Week in East Durham, NY.

Don't worry if you don't hear much out of me for a while!

I hope everyone's well, and stays that way.

Especially Lt. [livejournal.com profile] bluekitsune, who's due for a hurricane. Hopefully you're far enough inland that things won't be too bad.

Thanks!

I am. Am not sleeping nearly enough, though :-)

Hope all's well with you and yours!

True enough :-)

Although the attack of insomnia I had Wednesday night was bad. And I without my ambien. Got up after two hours of tossing and turning, put on my trousers and boots, and found that, praise God, one pub within walking distance was still open.

Found Dermot the barman from the place I stayed last year (no room this year there) and son of the owners, drinking with the barman there and a pair of very nice cousins from Kinsale. Got a double whiskey (Bushmills, I think, not that I was in any humour to care, so long as it was Irish and neat), which Dermot insisted on standing me (and wouldn't let me stand him another. Dermot's a real nice guy. So's the rest of his family. If anyone's going to East Durham, consider Gavin's very seriously), and sat there about an hour finding out the local gossip (who's the town drunk, who's the town bicycle, etc), telling bad dirty jokes, and getting slagged about my weird accent. (Christ, but it's wonderful to be back among people who only make fun of you if they like you :-)

Well, it would've been better to find a certain friend of mine there, find out that she's given up on her boyfriend, find out she's made the right choice, and get lulled to sleep by her head pillowed on my breast rather than by alcohol, but this was the next best thing.

Walked back, finally got to sleep. Slept through breakfast, which kind of sucked (woke up twenty minutes before class), but that's why I have rat bars and bottled water in my car.

Meh, why am I talking about insomnia instead of going to bed? :-)

Things are well here, had my bump removed this morning, but it went really well.. So yeah!

That's very good. Especially that the removal went well.

Gah, yeah.. insomnia sucks.. As does sleeping but apparently getting no rest.. I'm waking up as exhausted as if I hadn't slept lately, makes me not happy..

Though I'm glad that you had a good (if not great ;)) night with your insomnia.. Sitting up with friends and bullshitting is always fun. If over booze even better. :)

That's not good. I'm sorry to hear. (I've had that happen. Are you dreaming? A lack of sufficient REM could be the matter. I had a few months like that once.)

Hopefully you'll be getting better rest soon.

Thanks. I just wish I'd thought to walk down earlier. Maybe I'd had more sleep then. :-)

No, I haven't been dreaming, I think that I'm just worn out fromhealing, I always heal well, but am left tired, and I suspect that it's just my head doing it's thing.

I actually went up at 8:30 last night and curled up with Don Quixote (yeah, I'm reading DQ), and fell asleep around 9.. It was nice..

hehehe.. well, yeah.. :(

Well, that's not so bad, then. Hopefully it will finish doing its thing quickly.

Cool! I ought to do that some day. (Is yours in the original, a period English translation, or a newer one?)

It was nice..

That's good. :-)

Yeah.. I'm tired of feeling pregnant again (I have a long history of stomach problems, so I'm exhausted and nauseous, just like pregnancy! :-D)

hehe

My translation is an English 1755 translation, and it's fun.. I'm enjoying it a lot.. I have always liked the romantic fool, that Quixote so completely personifies. :)

Hope you're feeling less exhausted/nauseous (exhauseous?) soon.

Cool. I really need to read Quixote one of these days.

It's a fun read, very silly in a serious sort of way, though slowish..

As I think about it, I'm pretty sure I tried to read Quixote once as a kid. Was very good at devouring slowish archaicly worded things, but I don't remember much of it. Might not have got far.

Have you read ...Half Blood Prince yet? I'm less than halfway through. It may be that I'm busy, but it seems a slower read than the previous ones.

Yeah.. It's a kind of tough one, though enjoyable..

Oh yeah, I finished HBP in two days.. I devoured it as quickly as I've devoured all her stuff (the only reason it took two days is that I couldn't read during the day when the baby was up).. I loved it, It's one of my favorites..

I'm still not done. (Then again, things are maddish here, more so than usual.)

I don't hate it the way some have, but I don't think it's my favourite, either. We'll see how I feel when I'm done.

Glad you liked it, in any event.

That's fair.. It seems to have pissed people off, but I think it captured the fact that the kids are growing up beautifully.. Yeah, there is some soap opera to it, but do you remember being 17?!?!? :)
