Rats Through a Straw
Feb. 22nd, 2008 03:48 pmMike Rafferty's playing in NYC tonight. I was hoping to go in. We've got about ten inches of snow out there, and hardly anything but snow plows has passed us by all day. I gather NYC's fairly well snowt-in as well.
And... Andy M. Stewart's playing a house concert in Middletown Tuesday after next. Which is the day I have class; particularly annoying is that _next_ Tuesday is the class my prof's cancelled. I've not seen Andy in ten years; he doesn't seem to be touring much in North America, lately.
Well, if anyone wants to see Andy, let me know and I'll pass you along the contact information. It's at a friend's place, and I can testify that it's always a good time there.

(okay okay so B'town is sort of the Irish capital of the US, but STILL!)

Date: 2008-02-22 09:48 pm (UTC)The very same. He's still touring with Gerry O'Beirne, who is quite a brilliant guitarist. I'm not happy to be missing this; the last time I saw them was a double bill with Nightnoise in a university auditorium with mediocre sound, ca. 1998. The last really good concert I saw them at was in a pub in Columbus, ca. 1995.

Well, I'm actually in Connecticut, on the fringe of greater NYC.* But NYC thinks NYC is the Irish capital of the US, so the same thing applies, I suppose. ;-)
Here (http://www.andymstewart.com/in-concert.htm)'s the calendar for this tour. Is Rosendale, NY anywhere near to you?
**sigh* If only I were in Boston, I could see

I have never even heard of Rosendale, so.. I'll have to peak... I've never seen him, seen Maddy once, Capercaille a few times, Steeleye once, and and and, but never Andy.. totally jealous. :)

Date: 2008-02-22 10:33 pm (UTC)Big east coast cities with large Irish populations? The fact that I dated somebody who lived in Northampton, MA?
I've never seen Maddy or Capercaillie or Steeleye, so.
If you ever get the chance to see Andy, I recommend him highly. It doesn't seem as if he's been touring much, lately. For that matter, I don't think he's recorded an album in some years, either.
I have never even heard of Rosendale
I've not heard of it, either. I'm not that far from the New York border, but I don't think it's in any of the nearest counties to here.
